The Friends of Iziko Museum have asked me to lead a GeoHike along the Promenade later this year, after my annual overnight trip for them to Robben Island, set for 5th and 6th April this year.
A few weeks ago I spoke on The Geology the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station to retirees of the Blaauwberg University of the Third Age (U3A). 100 attended in the beautiful Milnerton Public Library.
On Monday, 11th March, I shall give a lunchtime talk to our Groote Schuur Probus Club on GeoTourism in Great Britain and Ireland, based on our 2013 and 2019 pre-Covid trips.
On Monday afternoon, 26th March I shall speak on my book at Sea Point Place.
I have just given the go-ahead for Rob Gomm, of Rob Print, to print a second suite of my book for my Waiting List of 14.
However, 10 of the copies were ordered by former UCT Geology student, Peter Dillon, who grew up in Fish Hoek, and now works in Qatar as a marine geophysicist and lives near Shannon Airport in Ireland.
Few are buying the PDF version.
On 9th May, I have been asked to give my talk on the 1969 Ceres-Tulbagh Earhquake and the 2023 Turkish Earthquake to U3A Tygerberg.
The George U3A want me to drive to George to give that talk there. I have agreed, in principle, but no date has been set yet. Probably June. Fourth outing for that talk.
On Saturday, 17th February, I took the Alex du Toit Lecturer, Professor Chris Heubeck from Jena in Germany, a Barberton expert, along Tafelberg Road and along the Contour Path at the request of Craig Smith.
Chris had taken two student trips to the Sea Point Contact over the years, so we skipped that. Charming man, who loves fieldwork.
All for now.
