IUCN paper on Requirements for Key Geological Areas

This follows on from an abstract and presentation at the 2024 International Geocongress and is worth considering.  As proposed, the requirements for a KGA (Key Geological Area) under the auspices of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) are far less onerous than the UNESCO Geopark program, would require far less up front and on-going investment, and mot significantly not require national government as champions.  One problem I see is that it (so far) does not incorporate mining heritage.

It’s worth having a discussion about.  See pp 16-17 for a summary table.
